Post Secondary Education involves a lot of cash. And a lot more learners, graduate students and parents are asking whether it is providing value for cash. A university study in North America today costs in the area of $14,500 per year. That results in $58,000 for a four year degree. In the more expensive institutions in the US, this $58,000 results in $100,000. In many situations in North America, this is financed by university student education loans, which places a large pressure on our adolescents just at a time in life when they are starting out and can least manage it. To worsen it, many of them cannot find jobs, even though they were guaranteed that if they got an excellent education they âwould be able to do anything they desired to doâ.

Weâve led many of our adolescents down the garden path, asking them into programs that have little or no chance of producing jobs, and appealing them into a program that is swollen with expenses resulting from a pre-industrial, even ancient, strategy to education. No wonder many of them are frustrated. Some learners, being of a generation that tends to be connected naturally into the significance of the information age in which we live, feel that we can do better. But they have a point. The program they are being recommended to buy into has not yet finished into the information age. It is possible to offer no cost education. And that does not mean by having the individuals pay for it all. That, after all, is not âno costâ.
There is already lots of precedent for on the internet education. Not the old adaption of the mail based communication programs of the 1960s, but the new edition that uses innovative technological innovation. Stanford is into it big time, as is MIT. Several colleges are making an investment in this area. A whole new market is being produced which provides web based programs that can have as many as 100,000 learners in a single class. And they get personal interest through the power of technological innovation. And for the normal undergraduate looking for a BA level, it can be done for free.
